Art Instructor Internship
Acquire experience in art education, photography, archiving and curating in a professional art studio for adults with developmental disabilities at L.A. GOAL, while earning school credit. Experience hands-on teaching, install art exhibits, and network with other artists and galleries. We are looking for highly creative and compassionate individuals to serve a teaching internship, either on weekdays or on Saturdays.
Each Member has unique creative needs and interests, as well as varying degrees of physical and cognitive abilities. Because of the highly diverse needs of our students, a great deal of one-on-one instruction is required to help them grow and thrive as artists.
Interns Will Learn and Assist With:
Providing group instruction to students (one-on-one instruction as needed).
Supervising clean-up and proper maintenance of studio supplies and equipment.
Teaching basic color mixing, drawing/painting and composition fundamentals in ways that are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Researching and developing lesson plans/projects as requested by supervisor.
Preparing and presenting classroom demonstrations for specific techniques (e.g., collage, monoprint) as requested by supervisor.
Archiving work, which includes proper packaging, cataloging and organization of finished works.
Photographing, enhancing and digitally archiving student’s works.
Curating art exhibits, shows, and boutiques.
